Shortly after Leon's return to the states from the military he started working at Miller's Locker as a meat cutter which sparked his interest for refrigeration. He took a correspondence course and became certified to work on refrigeration systems. That led into a lifelong career of working with automotive electrical systems. After a short time working for Sam Wallace at his Generator shop, he purchaced the equipment and moved east of Unionville to start his own Fowler Generator shop. After his temporary retirement in 1995 and selling his shop, he finished his working career at KM Bus. He enjoyed driving a bus and looking after the students, like they were one of his own. Leon was always active in the work of the Lord and once called to be a minister. He spent his ministery career preaching at the Mendota church until he was no longer to attend because of physical limitations. Some of his biggest accomplishments and joy he found in his spirital and physical life were taking stuff that was considered salvage and molding it into new items for others to enjoy.
