Obituary for Brian Lee Houghton
Brian Lee Houghton, age 59, of Downing, Missouri passed away Thursday, January 16th, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
He was born April 9th, 1960 in Kirksville, Missouri the son of Gary Houghton and Phyllis Boyle.
Preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Gary Houghton; infant brother, Jeffery Houghton and brother-in-law, Charlie Boyer.
Brian is survived by his faithful dog and beloved companion, Bo; mother, Phyllis Boyle of Memphis, Missouri; sisters, Beth Boyer and friend Kevin Holdren of Memphis, Missouri, and Jodie Holt and husband Gary of Arbela, Missouri; nieces, Nycole Harbison and husband Todd, Cali Smith and husband Weston; nephews, Seth Dunnett and wife Barbara, Cody Holt and wife Ashley, and Jade Holt along with five great nieces and 2 great nephews.
Brian grew up and spent most of his life in Scotland County and attended school at Scotland County R-1. In his younger days and better health, he enjoyed life and liked to live it in the fast lane. He enjoyed fast cars and motorcycles. He helped his father detail cars and was good at picking on his sisters as any brother would do. Brian was a simple man whose sunshine didn’t come from the sky, it came from the love of his dog Bo and family. He was loved and will be missed.
A graveside memorials service will be held on Saturday, January 25th,2020 starting at (noon) 12:00pm at the Downing Cemetery in Downing, Missouri with pastor David Barton officiating.
Brian's wishes were for cremation and arrangements have been provided by A Simplified Funeral Solution in Green Castle, Missouri.
