Obituary for MaryEllen Hitz
Mary Ellen Linder Filz Rutherford Hitz, 87 years 10 months and 10 days, daughter of Alva and Eugenie Linder, was born in Keokuk, Iowa on August 3, 1930. She went to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 13, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.
MaryEllen graduated from Wayland High School with the class of 1948. She married Alan William Filz, they were married 32 years and he preceded her in death on June 5, 1981. She later married James Ray Rutherford, he preceded her I death on in October of 1986. Later, she married Harold Hitz on February, 12, 1991 and he survives. MaryEllen loved to go mushroom hunting and playing cards with her family. She was the first female rural mail carrier in Northeast Missouri serving many years and later retired from carrying the mail.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Alan William Filz and James Ray Rutherford; two sisters, Anna Gray and infant baby Linder.
MaryEllen is survived by her husband, Harold Hitz; daughter, Carolyn Quigley, Linda (Wes) Kendall of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; one son, Brent Filz of Kahoka, Missouri; four grandchildren, Ronda and Rickie Davis of Kahoka, Missouri, Mark and Janis Freetly of Springfield, Illinois, Stephanie Wagner of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Cody and Heidi Filz of Kahoka, Missouri; fourteen great grandchildren, Derek, Christy, Nicholas, Jeremiah, Joshua, Allie, Chloe, Paisley, Hayden, Natalie, Pryce, Prestin, Dallas, Willow; three great great grandchildren, Violet, Christian, Charlotte; several nieces, nephews and friends.
At Maryellen’s request she has been cremated and a private family burial is planned for a later date at the Frazee cemetery in rural Wayland, Missouri.
