Obituary for Clifford L Hines

Well known in Newtown and Novinger, Clifford Hines, 78, passed away the morning of Sunday, May 13, 2018, at LaBelle Manor Care Center, LaBelle, MO.

The son of James and Uldine Hines of Newtown. In 1967, Clifford was united in marriage to Carol Sandstrom of Novinger. To this 51-year marriage, two children were born, Mike Hines, Sherry Darling.

Cliff is survived by his faithful wife, Carol of Kirksville, MO; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tina Hines of Brashear; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Mike Darling of Kirksville; seven grandchildren, Cierra wife of Dusty Kelly, Lizzy, Ben, Jacob, Rachel, Sarah and Leah; three great grandchildren, Paisley, Hulon and Waylen Kelly; two nephews and three nieces.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, James and Uldine Hines; one twin sister, Fern Richards; one brother, Eldon Hines of Queen City; grandparents, Frank and Dona Duncan and Lee and Rose Hines; and his in-laws, Charles and Hada Sandstrom of Novinger.

Cliff was born and raised in the Newtown area. He graduated from Newtown High School with the class of 1958. In 1962 he went into the Navy. In 1965 he went to work for Bill Hines of Unionville driving a rock truck. In 1967 he went to work at McGraws. He then worked at the shoe factory in Kirksville until it closed. In later years, he and Carol did craft shows throughout several states.

Cliff loved spending time with his grandchildren, going to Cierra’s softball games, mowing the farm, and doing many craft shows each year. He loved working in his shop and being out in the woods with Jake. In his younger years, he loved riding motorcycles with Butch and camping in Arkansas. He was always a hard worker and eager to lend a helping hand.

A memorial service in celebration of Cliff’s life will be held at Countryside Christian Church, Troy Mills, at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 26th with a cake reception to follow for visitation from approximately 5:15 to 6:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to LaBelle Manor Care Center to purchase new recliners for the Alzheimer Patients’ Unit and may be left at Countryside Christian Church or mailed to LaBelle Manor Care Center, 1002 Central St., LaBelle, MO 63447.
