Obituary for Carl James West
Carl James West, 72, of Novinger, Missouri passed on October 24, 2017. Carl was born March 25, 1945 in St. Louis the son of Arthur and Mabel (Rice) West.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jesse James West; three brothers, Bud, John and Art, and five sisters, Mary, Ethel, Rose, Laura and Francis.
Carl is survived by his wife, Rose (Clay) West; a daughter Carol and husband Mickey Kamer of Beebe, Arkansas; three sons, Carlos of Novinger, Missouri, Alvin and Ashley of Queen City, Missouri, Brian Gillispie of Worthington, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Brandon, Josh, Samantha, Jeremiah, Wade, Hunter, Keegan, Mercedes, Bentley, Royce and Cherish; eight great grandchildren and one sister, Maxine Earl of Aurora Colorado.
Carl was a good ol’ hard working truck driver that had a wit and charm about him. He enjoyed his years on the road as both and owner and operator. At one time he owned his own trucking company in St. Louis and he always wanted his grandson to team with him. When he wasn’t behind the wheel he enjoyed the outdoors mowing and messing in the yard. He especially enjoyed fishing. Later in life Carl spent many of hours building model airplanes, tanks and ships. He loved Pineapple upside down cake, especially Susan Carvers. Carl also enjoyed his friends, family and grandchildren to whom he will be missed.
Carl’s family wishes to thank Northeast Missouri Hospice for the excellent care they provided in his last days. Special friend and aunt Lexlie Bland, Ken and Tara Zanders and Virginia Johnson for all the wonderful food and pies.
Carl’s wishes were for cremation with a memorial service at a later date.
